One of the quiet joys of a vacation rental is that it’s stocked like a home, not a hotel. Pack for what’s actually missing and you’ll travel lighter and stress less. Here’s how to think it through.
Nearly every quality rental comes with the essentials: fresh linens and towels, a fully equipped kitchen with pots, pans, and basic utensils, a coffee maker, and laundry access for longer stays. Many also stock starter supplies like dish soap, paper towels, and a roll or two of toilet paper. Check the listing’s amenities so you’re not hauling things that are waiting for you at the door.
Personal items are on you: toiletries, medications, phone chargers, and any specialty gear for your trip. It’s also smart to bring a small “first night” bag — a few snacks, a water bottle, and anything you’ll want before you make a grocery run.
Reusable shopping bags, a phone tripod for photos, a travel power strip, and a small day pack punch well above their weight. If you’re traveling with kids, confirm whether a crib or high chair is provided before you pack one.
Not sure if the kitchen has a blender or the home has beach chairs? Message the host before you pack. A good host — and every Oasis home comes with responsive, 24/7 support — will happily tell you what’s there so you can leave the guesswork at home.
Pack light, arrive easy, and spend your energy on the trip itself. Your search is O.V.R.
